Glass fiber is a very good substitute for metal materials. With the rapid development of market economy, glass fiber has become an indispensable raw material for construction, transportation, electronics, electrical, chemical, metallurgy, environmental protection, national defense and other industries. As it is widely used in many fields, people pay more and more attention to glass fiber. The world's largest glass fiber producers and consumers are mainly the United States, Europe, Japan and other developed countries, whose average glass fiber consumption is relatively high. The rapid development of China's glass fiber industry in recent years is driven by domestic and foreign markets. The expansion of the international market is not only due to the growth of aggregate demand, but also due to the development space left for domestic enterprises in the international market after international enterprises quit the industry due to low profit margin in the early stage; while the growth of the domestic market is due to the rapid development of the downstream consumer industry.

In 2017, the total output of glass fiber yarn in the whole industry was 4.08 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 12.70%. In 2018, the total output of glass fiber yarn in the whole industry reached 4.68 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.71%. In terms of exports, in 2017, the whole industry realized the export of 1.446 million tons of glass fiber and glass products, a year-on-year increase of 10.40%. In 2018, the export of glass fiber and glass products of the whole industry reached 1.5873 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 9.74%.

In 2018, the National Bureau of statistics listed glass fiber and glass fiber products in the catalogue of "classification of strategic emerging industries". Under the policy support, China's glass fiber industry will get rapid development.

In the long run, with the strengthening and transformation of infrastructure in the Middle East and Asia Pacific, the demand for glass fiber has increased greatly. With the growing global demand for glass fiber in glass fiber modified plastics, sports equipment, aerospace and other aspects, the prospect of glass fiber industry is still optimistic. In addition, the application field of glass fiber is expanded to the wind power market, which is a bright spot in the future development of glass fiber. The energy crisis has prompted countries to seek new energy, wind energy has become a focus of attention in recent years, and China has begun to increase investment in the field of wind power.

By 2021, China will invest 350 billion yuan in the field of wind power generation, of which about 20% (i.e. 70 billion yuan) need to use glass fiber (such as wind turbine blades, etc.), which is a big market for China's glass fiber enterprises.

Generally speaking, as a new material, glass fiber products will be more and more widely used in China in the future, and the market still has a very large development space.
